Learning why the panels shut off was only the beginning.
Anti-islanding finally explained why my panels gave us nothing. They weren't broken. The storm hadn't defeated the system. They shut down because grid-tied solar is designed to stop feeding power when the grid disappears.
That explanation took some of the blame off me. But it didn't answer the question that had kept me awake for almost a year: what would actually make the second time different?
The answer wasn't more panels. It wasn't a bigger generator or one oversized battery. It was having stored power ready before the grid went down — and knowing how to configure several compatible batteries so that power could carry the loads that mattered.
One battery may handle one small load. A properly configured bank can do something entirely different. No new source of electricity. No promise of magic. Just storage, sizing, and wiring planned before the next outage arrives.
What changes the second time

Storage gives the power somewhere to go.
The wiring sequence determines what the battery bank can safely carry.
Knowing the first part explains the failure. Knowing the second part changes what happens next.
