They were not broken. They shut themselves off exactly as they had been designed to do.
I had solar panels, a generator, stored fuel and enough supplies to believe my family was ready.
Then one storm exposed the weakness hidden underneath all of it. The most surprising part was not that equipment could be damaged. It was learning that the solar system might stop powering the house even when the panels themselves were still capable of producing electricity.

“What else should I buy to produce power?”
“What storage do I already have—and how much of it is still usable?”
It is not a magnetic generator. It does not create electricity from nothing. And it does not promise that a few old batteries will power an entire house forever.
The practical idea is simpler:
Identify batteries that may still have usable life
Separate them from batteries that are unsafe or permanently damaged
Verify their practical capacity
Organize suitable batteries into a larger storage bank
The presentation refers to this broader storage concept as Watt Stacking.
It is not about powering everything. It is about deciding what matters first.
It began with an old set of notes describing how usable batteries could be evaluated, recovered and combined.
Until then, I had thought of batteries as replaceable parts inside my equipment. The notes treated them as the foundation of the entire backup plan.
That was the part I had missed.
