ONE THING BEFORE THE VIDEO
Ted had learned it from an old guide long before our street went dark.
Asking him meant admitting I didn't actually know. After every dollar I'd spent, that was the hard part. But night after night, watching his kitchen window did more to change my mind than any of my own gear had.
What he explained to me that afternoon at the mailboxes wasn't complicated: which batteries to group, in what order, and how to wire them. No new device. No new source of electricity. He had simply found the sequence years before the rest of us knew to look for it.
What Ted actually used
Not a whole-home generator. Not a new battery bank. A wiring sequence for grouping batteries he already owned so they could carry more than one small load.
Once I finally asked, the answer was simpler than I expected.
